Eastern Docks from Dover Castle

c1920s

The Eastern Docks is shown from the Castle with Hudson's Bastion (a Napoleonic addition to the mediaeval defences) and the Coastguard Cottages showing in between.  The image was taken, and hand coloured, not long after completion of the Admiralty Harbour, as it was built.  The site has expanded greatly over the years with the increase of car ferry and freight traffic.
