Dover Marine Station

c1970s

Now known as Dover Cruise Terminal One, the Marine Station was once a hive of activity for cross channel traffic.  Not only the terminus for the famous Golden Arrow ferry service it was also adjacent to the Train Ferry berth for many years until it was disbanded in the 1980's.

The building itself was constructed prior to WW1 and was used for military purposes only, but in 1918 it was reopened as the South Eastern & Chatham Railway Terminus.  Closing in 1994, it was derelict for several years before conversion to the Cruise Terminal.  Before this time a very basic small station existed on the Admiralty Pier itself.
